Kindergarten Students Have Cultural Experience

Kindergarten Students Experience a Different Culture
Posted on 12/07/2018
On Monday,  December 3 CES Kindergartners invited a guest speaker to read the book Tortilla Factory in Spanish and to translate words into English. Some vocabulary words were: corn:maze, sun:sol, winter, factory, and beans. This book discussed the sequence of how to make tortillas and how people in Mexico work to tend their land and grow corn. A portion of the kindergarten social studies standards is on cultures and customs, identifying the difference between a map and a globe. Through this activity, students were able to identify their location as well as Mexico on both the globe and maps.
