Pablo Picasso said that "Every child is an artist." This so true. At CES we have the most creative students, and they absolutely love art!
In our art classes, we learn about various artists and their styles, such as Claude Monet, Henri Matisse, Vincent Van Gogh, Salvador Dali, Paul Klee, Grandma Moses, and Picasso. We create pictures using their styles, as well as learn about their lives and their mode of art. We have also learned about the elements of art, such as color and lines, and we work with different mediums, like oil pastels and colored pencils.
Every year our students enter the CEMC Calendar Contest (It is open to grades  K - 12.)  Students in kindergarten to third grade are assigned a month and must create a picture related to that month. The five best pictures from each grade level at CES are chosen and sent to CEMC headquarters to be judged against other schools. One student's picture is chosen for each month. CES has had two students to win a spot in the calendar, including one for the current 2017 calendar!
Art is special at CES. It is fun and a great way to tap into students' talents. It is also an enjoyable way to learn the history and the styles of the great Masters of the Art World.
